Vivianne Sydnes from Norway is Professor of Choral Conducting at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. She teaches the undergraduate programme in choral direction as well as students on the church music programmes. Sydnes is also Choir Master of Oslo Cathedral and the conductor and artistic director of the Oslo Cathedral Choir.
Her conducting work includes both a cappella repertoire and large-scale works for choir and orchestra from the Renaissance to the present. She did her bachelor’s degree in church music at the Norwegian Academy of Music and a masters diploma in choral conducting from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Vivianne Sydnes is often invited as a guest conductor and workshop leader in Norway – with the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir, among others – and throughout Europe. Sydnes is widely recognized as being a dedicated, respected and highly enthusiastic conductor and teacher.
