Merel Martens

completed her studies in Music Education, Pop and Jazz Choir Conducting, as well as Rhythmic Choir Conducting at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam and at the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark with the highest possible grades. Today she is conductor of the award-winning a cappella ensembles Pitch Control and VOÏSZ Vocal Projects in the Netherlands, as well as vocal coach for the professional group The Junction. In September 2014, she founded the Dutch Organic Choir, an a cappella group based on rotating leadership and free-style original music. Since November 2015, she is teaching the ‘Intelligent Choir’ method at two Dutch conservatories, educating conductors during courses and offering a master’s degree in this fairly new discipline.
